Upside Surprise: Oil Superstar Permian Keeps Delivering
Per-mania is what they’ve started calling it. Since the fall of 2016, the Permian Basin in West Texas and eastern New Mexico has seen one multibillion-dollar deal after the next. The current number stands at more than $23 billion in upstream deals… but nobody expects that to be the ceiling.
It would seem not all Permian rock is created equal, however, as nearly all the big-dollar activity has centered in either the Delaware or Midland sub-basins. Until recently, other regions in of the vast 75,000-square-mile Permian Basin have flown under the radar.
